Huawei released a whitepaper, “Key Scenarios of Autonomous Driving Mobile Network”. The paper identifies seven key autonomous-driving scenarios and analyses five key automation capabilities required in mobile networks. According to the company’s Executive Director of the Board, the evolution towards autonomous driving networks should be approached by scenario rather than as a single stroke.
New optic fibre allows transmission of one petabit per second
The fibre has applications in transmitting data between data centres, metropolitan networks, or undersea communications cables. It has the ability to smoothly accommodate traffic for big data and 5G services.
Philippines partners with China for sub-marine broadband
This partnership will utilise the Department’s existing cable landing station together with the telecom’s submarine cable. The facility will use fibre optics technology to carry signal and digital data including telephone and internet traffic by a submarine cable stretching across the oceans.
India re-elected as member of the ITU
India secured 165 votes and placed third among the 13 other nations that were elected to the council from the Asia-Australasia region. India ranked 8th among the 48 countries elected to the council globally. The 193-member states elect representatives to the council.
Philippine telco prepares for 5G with base station
PLDT noted that aside from faster connections with higher bandwidths, 5G will also automate different processes for different companies. The company aims to target different sectors as its first customers: transport, health care, manufacturing, energy, hotels, residential and other partner locators.
The future for 5G in India
The government developed a High-Level 5G India 2020 Forum last year, which brought together officials, industry experts, and academicians. It was aimed at bringing early deployment of 5G in the country, to be implemented commercially in 2020.
