The EducateAI initiative, spearheaded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), is a groundbreaking commitment to advancing artificial intelligence (AI) education across diverse educational levels. With a holistic vision, this initiative aims to empower educators nationwide to deliver high-quality AI educational experiences to students from K-12 to graduate classes and adults seeking formal training in AI.
Margaret Martonosi, NSF Assistant Director for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), emphasises that investing in AI education goes beyond technology—it is an investment in empowering educators and the next generation of the AI workforce. The central tenet of EducateAI is empowerment and inclusivity, ensuring that every student, regardless of background or age, not only comprehends AI but actively contributes to its positive evolution.

This collaborative approach aims to enhance AI education in high schools and further democratise access to resources for AI research.
In its initial steps, the NSF has published the EducateAI Dear Colleague Letter, a joint effort by the CISE and STEM Education directorates. This letter invites the submission of innovative proposals that advance inclusive computing education.
