While COVID-19 continues to disrupt the world’s economies, Hong Kong’s Smart Government Innovation Lab has sustained its release of solutions develops by its various incubatees.
Recently, another one of its supported firms has developed a solution that is now ready to be acquired by other firms, government agencies and academic institutions.
Solution description
The solution, called STEMHub, is an online educational platform for tutorial operation and academic resource management.
Users can access marketplace-liked modules to search, share or publish various academic material from worldwide academic resource web pages and systems.
All published or shared academic contents and materials are then well-managed through systematic classification and detailed categorization.
The platform is a workspace that provides users with a convenient, consolidated, and consistent environment to search, to learn, to practice and to conduct examinations in as well.
At the same time, all users’ actions and behaviours are logged into the system for future analysis. After a few months, an educational consultant or an AI can be trained by this captured data through the system.
With the integration of worldwide big data, this AI can be well-trained to provide, to advise and to plan users’ learning path in terms of inspiration of careers, interests, social trendies, etc.
After a well-built-up big data warehouse, the solution can be further extended to cater to employment and recruitment areas.
Application Areas
The solution can be applied in the areas of Education, Employment and Labour, Population as well as Social Welfare.
Technologies Used
The solution uses Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning.
Use Case
Each member of the society or the organization which used this solution could be advised to learn the most valuable subjects and be consulted to develop their strength.
For example, if this solution is used by an enterprise, the staffs would be directed to grow up towards its business goal together with employees’ strengths and interests.
Members within the society can also share their learning experience, academic notes, comments, experimental results, practical reports, thesis and recommended online resources.
Teachers and students can work on this platform with well-developed workflow, teaching and studying planning. All users’ experience, actions and behaviours should be logged and recorded for future analysis too.
Since members’ learning experience, strength developments, skills and knowledge of the society/organization are being captured, employers/positions and employees might be matched effectively.
About the Smart Government Innovation Lab
In 2018, the Government established the Smart Government Innovation Lab to explore hi-tech products such as AI and relevant technologies, including machine learning, big data analytics, cognitive systems and intelligent agent, as well as blockchain and robotics from firms, especially local start-ups.
The Lab is always on the lookout for innovation and technology (I&T) solutions that are conducive to enhancing public services or their operational effectiveness.
I&T suppliers are encouraged to regularly visit the Lab’s website to check on the current business and operational needs in public service delivery and propose innovative solutions or product suggestions to address them.
