A local communications service provider announced that it is collaborating with the Malaysian branch of an American multinational technology company.
Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two parties have agreed to leverage their respective expertise, technology and capabilities to create innovative digital solutions for organisations in Malaysia.
Concurrently, the collaboration makes the communications service provider the first telco in Malaysia to offer fixed-line voice calls with the tech fir’s Teams unified communications, as part of its Modern Workplace solutions.
It was noted that one of the key pillars of the telecom’s growth journey and convergence ambition has been around strategic partnerships with some of the best in the industry to deliver more value to businesses in Malaysia.

Cloud-based solutions enable a whole new level of work and collaboration, which will be an important driver in accelerating change within the fast-evolving business landscape, the Chief Enterprise Business Officer of the communications service provider stated.
The MoU will see collaboration in three key areas, targeting both commercial enterprises and the public sector.
First, the telecom’s leadership in IoT and 5G, and the tech firm’s cutting-edge Azure IoT technology will enable industries to build smart utilities and other connected applications, driving economic growth and digitalisation in Malaysia.
Second, the partnership will also leverage the tech firm’s Azure public cloud and Azure Stack services to enhance the telecom’s cloud services and meet the hybrid cloud needs of businesses in Malaysia.
The communications service provider’s ambition to be a one-stop-solution provider for IoT solutions for businesses is a crucial outcome of this collaboration. Businesses will be able to create new industrial IoT applications faster and leverage data analytics to solve their most pressing business problems and market needs.
Third, the telecom will adopt the tech fir’s Modern Workplace solutions, giving their employees the ability and flexibility to integrate their work, life and family.
This includes the ability and processes to work from anywhere with a network connection, at a time that works for both the employee and the business and across multiple devices.
