An advanced biometric Automated Border Control (ABC) infrastructure system was inaugurated at Soerkarno-Hatta International Airport’s (CGK) new terminal 3 by the Indonesian Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi (Directorate General of Immigration), PT Jaya Teknik and Vision-Box. Border control solutions from Vision-Box are being used in United Kingdom, USA, Australia, The Netherlands, Brazil, Qatar, Portugal, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Colombia, Venezuela and more.
There are Automated Border Control eGates for self-service border clearance of eligible Indonesian nationals and 10 portable biometric suitcases for enhanced mobility in passenger clearance. The solution also includes 32 individual fingerprint and passport scanners to expedite the processing of foreign travelers at manual counters.
Completion of terminal 3, along with renovations to Terminals 1 and 2, allows CGK to increase its passenger traffic significantly. By the end of 2017, the airport is slated to reach a targeted 61 million annual passengers, an 84% increase from its current 33 million annual passenger capacity. Terminal 3, which has been serving passengers since August 2016, will reach its full capacity of 25 million yearly passengers once completed in 2017.
These authentication and verification systems represent the first major deployment of Automated Border Control eGates in Indonesia. The ABC solution will enable CGK and the Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi to quickly and accurately process arriving and departing passengers while enhancing airport security by leveraging the latest technology.
It adds capacity to the airport’s infrastructure without the need to expand its architecture footprint, thus providing a flexible solution for airport stakeholders during peak seasons and times. It is also the first-of-its-kind mobile border control system for immigration officers to efficiently process passengers.
