Filipinos can now enjoy an improved shopping experience with the roll out of a roving cashless grocery store program called “Ronda Tinda” for consumers living in remote areas in the Philippines.
This program was made possible through the partnership between a virtual online payment app and a supermarket chain.
As reported, residents in Baliwag, Bulacan experienced firsthand the roving grocery store’s initial run and enjoyed discounts and perks on various items.
Moreover, the customers were able to pay for these items using the online app’s QR function or their Baliwag Benefits Card, also powered by the virtual online payment app.
Expanding the cashless experience
The Ronda Tinda program is a concrete demonstration of bringing the cashless experience down to the grassroots level.
This ground-breaking initiative can go a long way in letting residents in far-flung areas benefit from what this emerging new economy has to offer.
The supermarket chain finds value in this project as it is a rewarding experience to help local communities gain access to quality goods at a fair price and give them a convenient way to pay.
The roving grocery vans contain products from the supermarket and other partners including canned goods, toiletries, laundry supplies, and many more.
Benefits of Ronda Tinda
Each van is equipped with a QR code so shoppers can pay using only their phones. The vans also have a business device provided by the virtual payment app to accept card and other types of payments.
With the Ronda Tinda traveling to local communities, residents can also save on transportation costs incurred by going to grocery stores or malls usually located at the city centre.
Residents are able to take advantage of a convenient grocery shopping experience as well as safe and secure payment transactions.
According to Baliwag’s Municipal Administrator, the program strengthens their mission to provide exceptional services to the people.
This enables them to make the basic needs more accessible to the residents.
Furthermore, this allows the people to maximise cashless payments with the use of their Baliwag Benefits card.
Baliwag Benefits Card
The Baliwag Benefits Card primarily acts as an official resident ID card that gives Baliwag citizens access to government services and merchant partners’ rewards.
It is also powered by the virtual online payment app.
Aside from using this card to pay for grocery items from the roving van, they can also utilise it for cashless payments anytime and anywhere.
In addition, residents of Baliwag can also withdraw money from their account through affiliated ATMs nationwide.
By linking their card to the online payment app, the residents can use featured services that include sending money, load purchase and even bills payment.
Not only that, but they can also enjoy secure online transactions by using the virtual card in the app for online shopping, and flight and accommodation bookings, among others.
More locations
The van is scheduled to visit other barangays in Baliwag. The program also aims to roll out in other locations in Bulacan, which include Malolos and Bocaue.
People in Metro Manila may have the opportunity to try it out if they are from Quezon City while residents of Kalibo in Aklan and Miagao in Iloilo will soon have their turn too.
