Thailand’s Industry 4.0 goals
The signing of this MoU is indicative of the new era that is emerging in Thailand and around the world – the era focused on tech and the technological revolution.
The Thai government is working to promote, support and implement the human resource development with regard to digital industry and innovation.
According to a government source, the digital transformation of Thailand is defined as a transformed Thailand that maximizes the use of digital technologies in all socio-economic activities in order to develop infrastructure, innovation, data, human capital, and other digital resources that will ultimately drive the country towards wealth, stability, and sustainability.
A method for boosting the tech skills that Thai citizens possess will be through collaborations such as these – information and knowledge exchange with other countries.
DEPA’s innovation centre
In addition to the MoU between universities, the Thai Government is working to boost tech education.
OpenGov Asia recently reported that the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) is working to manifest a future of Thailand’s digital innovation, spearheading its efforts with the Thailand Digital Park and IoT Institute.
The project has been allocated US$160 million to foster the development of facilities that will push digital innovation. An additional amount for incentives provided for international investors.
DEPA aims to provide tactical promotions to help support, develop, and drive the overall Digital Development Master Plan and infrastructure plan of the country.
The President and CEO of the agency noted that Thailand 4.0 is the goal and target forward momentum and progress.
The CEO of DEPA noted that the leadership seeks to attract more than 100,000 digital ecosystem developers into Thailand to help with the movement, adding that the term ‘Digital ecosystem developers’ refers to programmers and developers as well as covers non-tech business and enablers that will help drive the digital ecosystem.
