In a landmark online meeting convened by the municipal steering committee for the “Vietnamese people prioritise Vietnamese goods” campaign and a newspaper, Hanoi’s business community showcased its resilience and adaptability amidst the burgeoning digital era, particularly through the dynamic growth of e-commerce and live-streaming platforms.
Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, highlighted the remarkable rise of livestreaming in Vietnam, with approximately 2.5 million sessions occurring each month.
According to Hiep, live streaming has empowered enterprises to embrace modern distribution strategies, expand their customer base, and thrive in a fiercely competitive market environment.
Livestreaming has emerged as a transformative medium where sellers engage directly with buyers in real-time video, revolutionising traditional sales channels. This approach not only facilitates immediate customer interaction but also accelerates the purchasing process and amplifies product visibility.
Key advantages of livestreaming include its capacity to offer exclusive promotions, collaborate with influencers, and leverage multiple social media platforms and e-commerce giants. However, alongside these opportunities, the Hanoi Department of Market Surveillance cautioned about the proliferation of counterfeit and illicit goods, which poses risks to consumer confidence and market integrity.
During the meeting, stakeholders deliberated on strategies to bolster support for businesses, particularly startups and retailers participating in the “One Commune-One Product” programme, to navigate these challenges effectively and optimise their market reach. Discussions also centred on enhancing regulatory frameworks to combat counterfeit goods and strengthen oversight in the online marketplace, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts among governmental bodies and industry stakeholders.
