The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) initiated a new era of scientific excellence and innovation by signing 35 Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) with fresh researchers, underlining the nation’s steadfast commitment to propelling the industry, energy, and emerging technology sectors forward.

In a press release, DOST-PCIEERD’s Executive Director, Dr Enrico C Paringit, applauded the new project leaders for embarking on the journey to make a substantial impact through science and technology. In addition, DOST-PCIEERD launched the annual Innovate Pinas event. This platform is where the culmination of 72 completed projects in 2023 was presented.

One of the standout moments during this event was the handover of the “CharM e-Charger”. This groundbreaking electric vehicle (EV) charging technology, developed by a team of researchers from the University of the Philippines Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP EEEI) in Diliman, promises to revolutionise the electric vehicle landscape in the Philippines.
The CharM e-Charger is a remarkable testament to the convergence of innovation, sustainability, and digital technology. It achieves a critical feat by reducing EV charging times from six hours to just 30 minutes.
