The Center for Research and Appropriate Technology (PRTTG) of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) recently embarked on a collaboration with the poultry industry in Subang for the development of an efficient poultry feed printing tool in the West Java region, supporting the advancement of poultry farming through research and appropriate technology. This technological innovation will greatly benefit poultry farmers by improving time efficiency and effectiveness in feed production.

Achmat emphasised that the activities undertaken by PRTTG BRIN are deliberately aimed at supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) that require appropriate technology. The objective is to provide comprehensive assistance to UMKM, not only through scientific laboratory-based research but also through practical and applied research endeavours.

“In line with our commitment to supporting the UMKM sector, we have previously conducted research in the development of fish feed. Building on that experience, we have now embarked on the development of ruminant feed, with a specific focus on enhancing the necessary equipment,” Achmat explained.

The collaboration between PRTTG BRIN and the poultry industry signifies a milestone in fostering partnerships between research institutions and industry players. The signing of the cooperation agreement took place at the farm location of the poultry industry in Dawuan, Subang. “We signed a cooperation agreement with one of the poultry industries at their farm location in Dawuan, Subang,” said Achmat Sarifudin, Head of PRTTG BRIN.

Furthermore, this collaboration underscores the commitment of both entities to drive technological advancements in the poultry sector and contribute to the growth and sustainability of UMKM involved in poultry farming. As planned, this collaboration will last for one year with a focus on the development of a pellet printer for poultry feed production. Additionally, PRTTG BRIN will also provide skilled human resources in the field of science and technology, while the necessary materials will be supplied by the poultry industry.

Through this collaboration, BRIN believed that they have contributed to society by addressing issues through technological solutions, particularly in improving the performance of poultry farming management in Indonesia. Meanwhile, according to the explanation from the Director of the poultry industry, Ayep, the signing of this collaboration will strengthen the synergy between PRTTG BRIN and the poultry industry itself in the development of a precision poultry feed printer.

“This collaboration has gone through several stages of discussion and has now reached its peak with the signing of the agreement. We are optimist this collaboration will enhance the quality and efficiency of livestock production in Indonesia,” he explained.

In the future, BRIN can further develop this innovation so that it not only collaborates with poultry farmers but also encompasses cattle, horse, goat farmers, and others. As a country where a significant portion of the population relies on farming, enhancing technological capabilities and collaborating with various livestock industries can contribute to elevating Indonesia’s economy.

By expanding the application of this innovation to different sectors of animal husbandry, BRIN can support the development of advanced technologies tailored to the specific needs and challenges of each industry. This collaboration will not only improve productivity and efficiency but also promote sustainable farming practices and enhance the overall competitiveness of Indonesia’s livestock sector.

Through these initiatives and collaboration, BRIN can play a crucial role in advancing technological innovation in the livestock sector, promoting sustainable farming practices, and contributing to the overall socio-economic development of Indonesia.
