Mrs Chutima Hanpracha, the Director of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, in a meeting with the Marketing Promotion Manager from Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), Mr Chulanop Santiphong, underscored the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Thailand. She said Thailand has the soft power to accelerate the nation’s improvement through its many cultures and heritages.
“Thailand’s culture is woven from a multitude of traditions and cultures, reflecting the country’s long history and the influences of various ethnic groups,” Mrs Chutima said.
One of the remarkable aspects of Thailand’s culture is its ability to resonate with people worldwide. Thai cuisine, traditional Thai arts, Thailand’s spiritual and religious traditions, and many more bring tourists to Thailand. These cultural treasures have made Thailand a premier destination for travellers seeking to immerse themselves in a culture that is at once ancient and vibrant.
Mrs Chutima acknowledged that promoting and preserving Thailand’s rich cultural heritage can significantly elevate the nation’s global competitiveness. They are powerful tools that shape international perceptions and pave the way for fruitful collaborations and partnerships with other countries.
“When a country is recognised and appreciated for its unique culture, it not only fosters positive international perceptions but also encourages collaborations and partnerships with other nations, which means can foster Thailand’s tourism. Tourism has been powerful to be our asset for the economic growth,” she emphasised.
However, Mr Chulanop addressed that this year the pivotal role will be played by the department in advancing Thailand’s Soft Power through digital technology. DEPA is committed to nurturing the digital content industry, which boasts an impressive market value exceeding 42,000 million baht. This year, DEPA has embarked on a strategic campaign to elevate the gaming industry, covering the entire spectrum from its inception to its final consumer.
According to Mr Chulanop, the path to advancing Thailand’s digital gaming industry begins with a pivotal and strategic step: cultivating a new generation of highly skilled professionals. These individuals represent the industry’s future and will play a vital role in propelling it to new heights of success. Through specialised training programmes, educational initiatives, and the encouragement of young talents to pursue careers in the digital gaming field, Thailand aims to create a workforce that is proficient and passionate about the industry.
Moreover, empowering entrepreneurs already active in the digital gaming sector is essential. Recognising that entrepreneurs drive innovation and growth, various initiatives have been implemented to provide them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and support systems to thrive in this dynamic industry. These initiatives include mentorship programmes, access to funding and resources, and opportunities for collaboration and networking.
In parallel with this effort, DEPA is also actively expanding growth prospects and market access through collaborative ventures, fostering an environment ripe for innovation and success. This initiative underscores the department’s dedication to elevating the country’s global standing and reputation through the artful fusion of culture and digital ingenuity.
DEPA remains unwavering in its commitment to propel the digital industry and digital content creation forward. This commitment is exemplified by DEPA’s tireless efforts to support private sector entrepreneurs, catalysing their growth and success.
In addition, DEPA actively collaborates with Thailand’s international networks, strategically positioned abroad, to facilitate opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs to flourish globally. By fostering such collaborations and driving innovation within the digital content industry, DEPA continues to drive Thailand’s ascent in Soft Power and digital influence.
