To build a brighter future, representatives from China and Turkey discussed how to carry out extensive collaboration in the digital economy.
Zhang Shaogang, deputy chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that the “Belt and Road” initiative’s collaborative building has been going on for ten years this year.
Cooperation’s potential in areas like e-commerce and smart cities has been thoroughly explored as they support the forum that will be held in China the following year to advance economic and commercial ties between China and Turkey.
The building of the “Digital Silk Road,” according to Liu Shaobin, China’s ambassador to Turkey, is an organic combination of the growth of the digital economy and the cooperative construction of the “Belt and Road” programme that the groundwork has been done well.
In China’s Digital Silk Road programme, digital technology is essential. The goal of the Digital Silk Road is to foster connectivity and collaboration in e-commerce, technology, and digital infrastructure between China and other nations.
Facilitate digital trade, cross-border e-commerce, and digital services along the route, it entails the building of 5G networks, underwater cables, data centres, and smart cities. This programme supports economic growth, the development of China’s digital impact, and international technical cooperation.
Turkey complimented China for leading the globe in the digital economy and lauded the incredible growth and popularisation of e-commerce. He advised Turkey and China to focus more on the potential for cooperation in these high-value-added industries while enhancing their cooperation in more conventional areas.
Under the umbrella of the economic and trade forum, there were two subforums where the participants had in-depth conversations about issues including the digital future and instances of productive China-Turkey cooperation.
Deeper international collaboration in the sphere of the digital economy has several benefits, such as knowledge transfer and technology transfer, which boost the productivity, competitiveness, and economic growth of participating nations.
The two countries also agreed that collaboration in the digital economy fosters the development of new job opportunities and skill sets, particularly in fast-growing industries like e-commerce, artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics.
Expanding cross-border digital trade, increasing exports, and making it easier for goods and services to access global markets are all made possible by deeper cooperation.
Further, collaboration fosters technical innovation, research, and development, enabling countries to adopt cutting-edge technology and maintain a lead in digital innovation.
The cooperation of China and Turkey encouraged the growth of digital infrastructure, such as broadband networks, data centres, and digital platforms, which enhances connection and makes it possible for digital transactions to be completed without any delays.
By providing access to digital services, creating digital literacy, and bridging the digital divide, digital collaboration may empower people and communities, enabling social inclusion and sustainable development.
Also, the collaboration of the two nations makes it possible to define best practices and standards for cybersecurity and data protection, creating a safe and reliable online environment for both enterprises and people.
In addition, cooperation promotes interoperability, lowers trade barriers, and strengthens international cooperation on problems like intellectual property rights and data governance. It also makes it easier to harmonise policies and regulations connected to the digital economy.
