A tech company under the Hong Kong Smart Government Innovation Lab recently announced that it has launched a new solution which is now ready to be acquired by companies and institutions.
Solution description
The solution, which is an intelligent building visual management integrated system, was launched in response to the “Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint” proposed by the government, and to promote the smart city process. The building system is based on the Internet of Things, and a cloud platform is used as the framework to form an intelligent visualized building group, which integrates the intelligence of the government and various companies scattered everywhere.
The system has unified management and unified coordination; it reduces intermediate links and saves a lot of time in problem-solving. By cooperating with big data analysis, the software can effectively improve the use status and service life of the equipment, achieve early prevention interventions and maintenance, greatly reduce the accident rate, and enable the realisation of a smart Hong Kong.

Use case
- The building management system of the Internet of Things can be used to build a group of Internet-of-things buildings, and gradually realise a green and smart city from point to point.
- Households have hidden safety hazards such as fire alarms, gas leaks, and flooding. Using a mature Internet of Things technology to minimise the incidence of safety hazards.
- Through the installation and deployment of the Internet of Things system, power and gas equipment parameters can be collected. The information exchange can be realised through a reserved API interface and the fire department. If there is an electric fire or gas leakage, an alarm will be automatically sent out. The concerned companies and the fire department will both be alerted immediately.
- Through the installation and deployment of the Internet of Things system, elevator operating equipment parameters can be collected, in conjunction with the video monitoring system. A reserved API interface can also be connected to the elevator equipment company to achieve greater information exchange. If the elevator runs abnormally, an automatic alarm will be sent out to the property owners and the elevator equipment company who can obtain the information immediately.
- Through the Internet of Things system, the parameters of electricity meters, gas meters, and water meters can be collected. The information exchange is realised via the reserved API interface which is connected with power companies, gas companies, and water supplies agencies. Users can check their usage in time.
- The system can be used once traditional lighting equipment has been changed to new IoT equipment. Then, lighting requirements can be adjusted according to time, weather and usage conditions.
- Through the Internet of Things building system, property management personnel can view on-site conditions, alarm reception and positioning, system management, on-site control and other functions through PC or mobile app. By reserving the API interface to connect with the property company to achieve information exchange, the property company can manage all its properties comprehensively, thereby reducing labour costs, operating energy consumption, and guaranteeing operating quality.
About the Smart Government Innovation Lab
In 2018, the Government established the Smart Government Innovation Lab to explore hi-tech products such as AI and relevant technologies, including machine learning, big data analytics, cognitive systems and intelligent agent, as well as blockchain and robotics from firms, especially local start-ups.
