A new initiative has been launched to ensure that residents in the North East district are well prepared for digital disruption and changes to the economy.
The North East Community Development Council (CDC) has introduced this “The Get Ready” package to combine services of different agencies in the aims of offering assistance in the areas of employment, employability and upskilling. It is aimed at residents who are in their late 50s or older.
These agencies include the People’s Association (PA), the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Workforce Singapore (WSG).
The initiative was launched at the one-day “Get Up” event on July 28, 2019.
Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Culture, Community and Youth Mr Baey Yam Keng said that the workforce must constantly upgrade their skills and knowledge with continuous learning, to stay be able to keep up with the changes.
“Everyone must remain adaptable and agile to disruptions coming their way, and embrace these changes,” she said.
This initiative has been made available to all Singapore citizens and permanent residents living in the North East district. The package can be signed up for at five job placement centres in job placement centres located around in the district.
“Experienced career coaches will be deployed onsite to assist residents in a comprehensive assessment on their employability status and training needs,” said the North East CDC. It added that residents who need more assistance will be provided with complimentary training, job referrals and employability workshops.
The package includes 23 SkillsFuture courses such as entrepreneurship, photo-editing and robotic process automation.
