The world’s leading telecommunications operator announced the launch of its global information and communications technology services, i-Solutions, which offers a seamless, borderless digital connectivity solution for the Malaysian market.
The firm is the international operation unit of a Chinese telecommunication giant. It was noted that the company aims to introduce i-Solutions to the government, retail and education sectors in the country.
The solution offers products and solutions such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Enterprise Messaging, Cloud Network Integration Solution, comprehensive security solutions, data backup, disaster recovery solution and connectivity.
Targeted at local telco carriers, Internet service providers, and the operator market, the firm’s products and solutions will also cater to enterprise customers across all industries.
The goal is to promote the development and adoption of digital and technology-driven businesses.
According to the Managing Director of the firm’s Malaysia branch, the country is a key market which offers a lot of potential, allowing the company to grow and develop its presence in the region.
The adoption of the fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) among Malaysian enterprises and multinational corporations that are being actively promoted by the government is the right vision for those who are heavily invested in driving the growth for technology adoption.
Investors keen on Malaysia’s digital ecosystem
An earlier report by OpenGov Asia highlights the fact that interest in investment is the result of government efforts to establish Malaysia as the leading ASEAN tech and digital hub.
Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) notes that the international investors and established digital economy ecosystem builders remain bullish and committed in their investments towards Malaysia’s digital economy.
Malaysia has gone “seriously digital”, according to a high-ranking government official who also stated that the Multimedia Super Corridor’s (MSC) cumulative total investment has reached US$79 billion, with export sales worth US$39.74 billion creating a total of over 180,000 jobs.
Over 4,000 companies have been awarded the MSC Malaysia status — 74% of these companies are Malaysian-owned, while 26% of them are foreign-owned, including 180 multinational companies.
The range of programmes that MDEC curated through the MTW19 highlights the frontier technology and thinking in the ecosystem that places the country firmly as the investment and innovation destination everything tech-related and digital in ASEAN.
Moreover, most SMEs in Malaysia (62.7%) are in the early stages of digital maturity, with digitalisation programmes remaining largely unaligned with the broader enterprise strategy and multiple initiatives running in parallel across business functions.
It is important to note, however, that adopting a digital mindset goes beyond executing discrete projects within a specified timeframe. Companies require support in the form of funding, expertise and technology to help them reach the fifth stage of digital maturity.
Therefore, helping SMEs and local businesses reach digital maturity is one way in which the Malaysian government is helping digitally transform the country. As companies like the aforementioned global information and communications technology services firm are enabled through the country’s policies and ecosystem, so too will the economy and innovation be enabled in Malaysia.
