The original four-member global security alliance from Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo and Madrid welcomes their new addition and equal member from Dallas.
In today’s press release, the Global Telco Security Alliance of Singtel, Etisalat, Softbank and Telefónica announced the addition of global telecommunications leader AT&T as an equal member in the group.
The Global Telco Security Alliance
The Group was launched in April 2018 and brings together leading telecommunications operators from around the world, which offer comprehensive cybersecurity insights.
These insights help them address the growing threat of cyber-attacks as well as the evolving threat landscape.
Globally, the Alliance can harness the expertise of more than 6,000 security experts. Add to that, a global network of more than 28 Security Operations Centres.
More than 1.2 billion combined customers, in more than 60 countries across the Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas are now covered by all the members of the Alliance.
The New Member
With AT&T’s established extensive cybersecurity capabilities and technologies, its addition to the Alliance represents a step up in resources and insights, which are also offered by the Alliance as a whole.
The telecom operator from Dallas had recently acquired AlienVault, which thereby reinforces its cybersecurity capabilities and technologies.
AlienVault has enabled AT&T to accelerate the delivery of its vision. Their vision is to enable organisations of all sizes with effective cybersecurity solutions.
The President of AT&T Cybersecurity Mr Barmak Meftah said, “We are thrilled to be the first telco in North America to join the alliance, and to do so as a founding member.”
He added that hackers have well established and organised communities that cooperate to produce cyber threats.
It is the perfect time for large network operators to work together in order to help deliver disruptive innovations.
This will also enable the global customers to detect and respond to threats faster and be able to protect their digital footprint.
The Global Telco Security Alliance plans to expand its scope of activities and global footprint over time.
Furthermore, they are open to adding new members in the future.
