Filipino children will now have the opportunity to learn more about chemistry in an interesting manner as The Mind Museum has launched the first virtual chemistry table in the Philippines, according to a recent report.
Accomplished in partnership with the country’s leading chemical supplier, the installation of the virtual chemistry table is aimed at providing a new experience for science education.
In a United Nations report about global challenges, there will be more than 9 billion people in 2050. Imagine the current challenges being experienced right not at 7 billion.
The resources are finite. There will definitely be pressure on energy, food production and the quality of life.
Because of this, the children are being needed now. They are the ones who will find the solutions.
The earlier that they are being engaged in science and technology, the higher the chances are to get more solutions.
The chemical supplier company continuously finds ways to promote science education through their social engagement programs.
The children should be able to view science as something fun and engaging.
The virtual chemistry table was developed by a South African company. It gives the children and other guests the opportunity to explore various chemical reactions without the risk of dangers in the laboratory.
When doing the experiments in the lab, there are many other precautions that should be thought of, such as the proper equipment and safety.
The Mind Museum’s Atom gallery holds the virtual chemistry table. It is equipped with circular disks that are labelled with substances.
When these disks are placed on the table, the descriptions about the substance will appear on the screen.
Moreover, when two disks are placed on the table, the two substances will be combined virtually in order to create and show the corresponding reaction.
The disks were designed in such a way that there are patterns at the bottom. An infrared camera reads those patterns. The patterns are then interpreted.
The content of the specific card that was placed on the table will, in turn, be displayed.
The table also has the ability to display the reaction and show what could happen to the two substances when different cards are mixed together.
The museum provides a new experience to give to their audience and yet the learning is the same. It just became more interesting.
The chemical supplier company has also extended efforts for science education outside Manila by sponsoring 400 kids, giving them the chance to witness educational shows and workshops in the Mind Mobile, which is currently stationed in Cebu.
