An announcement
made by the Victoria Government focused on Melbourne being the new Asia-Pacific
Headquarters of a Silicon Valley fintech innovator.
Victoria’s growing fintech sector will be
boosted as Nomis
Solutions, a Silicon Valley fintech innovator, has announced that
Melbourne will be the location of their Asia-Pacific Headquarters. This move
will be creating 50 jobs in over five years.
Nomis Solutions’ cutting-edge approach to
big data as well as its personalised customer solutions and market analysis are
being used by more than 10,000 bankers worldwide.
The support of the Andrews Labor Government
has secured Nomis Solutions’ base of operations in Melbourne. The Victoria
Government is growing the state’s reputation as a leading global innovation
hub.
Minister for Trade and Investment Philip
Dalidakis said, “Victoria’s thriving finance sector and talented graduates are
attracting global investment and spurring on our state’s rising tech sector.”
With an employment count of more than
115,000 people and a contribution of A$40 billion per year, the financial
services is considered to be the largest sector of the Victorian economy.
The global fintech sector encompasses a
wide range of capabilities such as payments, blockchain technology and data
analytics. The sector is also considered to be a growing force within
Australia’s A$147 billion financial and insurance service industry.
Nomis Solutions Managing Director of APAC
Mr Damian Young said, “Nomis Solutions is excited at the opportunity to expand
its business within the region’s fast moving financial services sector.”
With the emerging of new technologies, rapid
changes are occurring in the way the financial service industry operates.
Because of this, the Victoria Government is ensuring that Melbourne’s fintech
sector is flourishing and creating new jobs, businesses, technologies and
exports.
The Labor Government announced last year
that it would partner with Stone and Chalk, and YBF Ventures in order to create
two dedicated fintech hubs in Melbourne. Those partnerships would nurture local
talent, attract investment and create jobs in this fast-growing global industry.
Currently, Victoria is already a home to a
growing number of fintech companies. These fintech companies are Stripe,
Square, Airwallex, Mimecast, Assembly Payments and Moula.
Minister Dalidakis said, “We’re attracting
innovative companies in modern industries that will support the jobs up of our
future economy.”
Mr Young said, “We’re delighted to establish our
head office in Victoria, and using it as a base to expand our team locally to
support our clients in Australia, New Zealand, and the wider APAC region.”
